03/16/2004 Archived Entry: "slacker"
My homework is finally up!
Well here I am slacking again, tsk tsk I keep telling myself I will do better, but I am just useless I reckon. I went to the dentist again today, and 2 of the 3 crowns are now permanent! yeah!!! the third one I kept bumping somehow so it has to be re-made, and of course this is the one that keeps coming off too, enough of that tho.
Mom came out this morning to go to the dentist with me so she could keep an eye on Angela, so we headed out early for a little shopping. We hit Wal-Mart so I could get some new polish and nail guide thingies for my french manicure. I picked up a few things for Bradley's teacher's new baby too, she was a preemie, and is still in the hospital but we got a note that she is doing really well and should be home in a few weeks. I had been itching to get some baby gifts but wasn't sure how to get the gifts to Mrs. "W." until she came back to school a few days a week. Bradley is so tickled she's back! the poor lil guy has been so pitiful and sad while she was gone, but he's back to being his funny playful self now :)
Little Angela is growing up so fast! I called her "Mommy's little pet" the other night when she demanded "mommy, rocky baby!" and now she is running around telling anyone and everyone "mommy's pet" with such a sweet little grin :) Today when I finished brushing her hair she was walking around preening and saying, "pretty Mimi" lol and of course she had to tell half of wal-mart too lol she cracks me up! after we dropped mom off we were just driving along, and of course looking for "me-mews" (cows) and horses ;), when she just out of the blue started singing along with the radio, now of course I'm not bragging, or partial ;) rofl but she sounded soo cute! and she was keeping perfect rhythm and didn't flub one single word!
Chantaye has really surprised me the past couple of weeks. I started pushing her to read more instead of watching so much tv and she fought me a little at first, she likes to read but it wasn't a passion, key word there being "wasn't" she has read 7 books that I can remember and is asking for more! they are all pretty decent size too, they are averaging 12 chapters each, give or take a few on each side. I'm really proud of her for diving in like she has! She keeps asking me how much longer until she can try reading one of my books lol I told her they would scare the willies out of her, but I'm starting to think I might be wrong, she has been choosing at least once mystery type from the library each week, and seems to really enjoy them.
I have a question for you moms...do you think Goosebumps books are ok for the kids? I haven't read one myself, I've skimmed a bit but that's all so far, but Greg was reading over her shoulder last week and he said the characters were calling people names like stupid or fat. I've told her she needs to read other things until I can be sure these are ok, granted she wasn't real thrilled with that, but I gave her the names of 2 authors I read when I was her age so I know they are safe and that seemed to satisfy her at least for the moment. I really would appreciate some input ladies :)
Have a wonderful Wednesday, and if you're in the north stay warm!

Goosebumps! My 10-year-old loves the books. I think they are okay for kids to read as long as you stress that "in real life" it's not okay to call other kids names like that. Have a great weekend! :)

Hi Aretha, I enjoyed reading your entry. It brings back memories of when my kids were growing up. Your little Angela must be precious. I haven't heard of the Goosebumps books not having any little ones around. Try checking with the Librarian as she/he should be able to fill you in. Have a wonderful day my friend. ~Hugs~
